South of England

We have had a lot of fun exploring all of the South coast of England.

There are alot of old things here, from boats to houses

We did heaps of walking because there was lots of things to see.

Jessica thought her baby would like to learn to drive on the way to one of the places we visited.

We had fun in the sun also and even got to visit the beach.

When we were sailing one day we got to see the navy doing exercises with ribs and loading them on to the big boat.

Lego is something we really enjoy doing and we built a city.

On the last place we visited there was a sea shanty festival and we enjoyed hearing lots of old sailing songs.

We got to see lots of people dressed up.

And also learned some new knots.

We are now going to France and Spain and will talk with you for there.

Portsmouth England

We love Portsmouth. there are heaps of things to see and we are having a great time.

On our first morning here we went for a walk around the old port and stopped for fish (cod) and chips at a pub with a big glass of lemonade.
After we were full we went to visit the dock area with all the boats and museums.
The first boat was the Victory which was a famous boat in the battle of Trafalgar, and the Admiral on this boat was Admiral Nelson, who died in this battle.
We got to see how the Admiral, captain and the officers lived and also got to see how the normal people lived as well, which was very different.

We went to some museums and we got to see how some people would have dressed. We think the clothes looked very beautiful. But we wouldn't want to be a King or Queen as they don't look very comfortable.

There was also a museum called action stations where we got to do lots of things from making out we were flying in a helicopter to firing a gun and rock climbing.
The rock climbing was our favourite thing to do. We want to go back and do it again.
Our next place we go to is Weymouth where we will be seeing some people from Australia that we met in Collioure in the south of France. We can't wait to see the kids again. We had great fun with them last time.

Belgium and France

We have been doing alot of sailing over the past few days but we have visited some great places. One of these places was Brugge in Belgium where all the good chocolate comes from.

We sailed up a very long canal to get to the town and from where we were moored it was about a 15 minute walk into the town square. Where we spent most of our time.

Brugge is a very old town and it looks like it could have looked hundreds of years ago. In the center of town there were lots of horses and buggies taking people for rides. We really liked to horses.

In Brugge there were lots of craft and model shops. Neisha and Jessica got a latch hook each to do and Jackson got a Model Ferrari. We really like doing the latch hook and Daddy is helping Jackson with the model building.

Another thing we really like doing is lego and here in this picture we are building a lion.

When we leave Brugge we have to go through a lock to get to the ocean. While we are waiting for the lock to close a huge boat comes in as well.

After visiting Brugge we head for France. We call into a couple of towns on the way but do not stop long. Finally we get to a town called Dieppe where we will stay for a few days.

While we are in Dieppe we also go on a train ride to a town called Ruoen.

This is the town where Joan of Arc was held after she was captured by the English. We saw galleries, old streets and buildings and churches while we were here.

We also got to stop for a delicious hot chocolate at a cafe.

We are going to sail overnight for England next and will be stopping in a place called Portsmouth.

We are having a great time.

Clogs, Tulips and Bicycles.

After leaving Germany we arrived in Holland and stopped at a town called Medemblik which was very nice and we stayed for a few days doing jobs on the boat.

Leaving the last lock in Germany. Very crowded!

Sailing from Cuxhaven to Medemblik

On Thursday we set off for Amsterdam and arrived late in the afternoon.

Windmill in Holland

Amsterdam is a very busy place, and alot of people get around by bike.

Instead of a car park there are lots of bike parks.

We all went on a canal tour on Friday which was very hot but very interesting. Lots of people live on on the canal in house boats and they even grow vegetable gardens in the water on floating gradens.

We went for a walk through town and saw street performers in the town square. There was also bronze sculptures of a famous painting by Rembrant that were all life size.

On Saturday we went on the train and a bus to some beautiful gardens called the Keukenhof Gardens. The gardens went on and on and on and were filled with lots of bulbs of all kinds. Mostly though there were tulips, tulips and more tulips.

We found a great kids playground in the gardens where we had lots of fun.

On Mothers day we made Mum breakfast and headed off sailing for the south coast of Holland, heading for Belgium and France. On the way we ran into a huge swarm of bugs that covered the boat from top to bottom.

Mums Mothers Day

Lots and lots of bugs

It took along time to clean them all off when we got to port, but with us all working together it made it a bit easier.

This afternoon we are heading to France and will sail through the night.

Thank you to Cody, Josh and Ali who sent us a game of Sleeping Queens which we have been playing alot. They also sent us some jokes which were really funny.

Send us a email any time. We like to print them out and keep them in our specials folders.

Bye for now,
